Shame: Finding Freedom
Shame has been a part of the human experience since the beginning of time. We have been feeling the effects of shame ever since.
You may be painfully aware of how shame operates in your life, or you may insist that it doesn’t. Regardless, shame is not neutral. It takes direct aim at the image of God in you. It chisels away at your dignity, derails your purpose, and fractures your relationships. Shame operates with a well-designed strategy to disconnect you from God and others.
Whether you are experiencing shame as a result of choices you’ve made, harms done to you, the brokenness of the world, or some combination of all three, God uses shame as a redemptive tool to invite you to come to him. Your hope rests securely in the fact that Jesus is not ashamed to identify with you. He comes near and replaces your shame with honor, belonging, and forgiveness. In fact, the narrative of Scripture, from Genesis to Revelation, is a dramatic story about how God moves his people from shame to honor.
This study will help you learn what shame is, how it operates, and how it affects your everyday life. But most importantly, it will help you live in the freedom and comfort Christ holds out to you.
NOTE: This video-based study, originally created in 2017, is currently undergoing revision.
Re-release is TBD.
